G. David Allen, Ph.D.

Dr. David Allen earned a Ph.D. in counseling psychology from West Virginia University in 1997 and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in clinical psychology at the Philadelphia Geriatric Center in 1998. He is currently a licensed psychologist in Pennsylvania and West Virginia with previous experience in pastoral ministry. He earned a Master of Divinity from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary in 1985 and Master of Science in pastoral counseling from Loyola University of Maryland in 1989. He served several pastorates in the Presbyterian Churches USA before returning to graduate studies in psychology. Dr. Allen is an accomplished teacher and practitioner having held both academic and clinical faculty posts at Fairmont State University and West Virginia University. He is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Pennsylvania Psychological Association, and the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science. Dr. Allen specializes in the delivery of evidence-based therapies that enable adults to respond flexibly to the challenges of loss, grief, chronic and acute health conditions, life transitions, depression, and anxiety. He works frequently with couples to build communication, address issues of trust, and grow in connectedness and intimacy. Dr. Allen has over two decades of clinical experience helping individuals and couples face a variety of mental health conditions and life circumstances and to achieve personal growth.
